If all CMOs and marketers came from the same background, the marketing industry becomes an echo chamber and stagnant. That's why there's an advantage to "outsider" perspectives.
That's why this episode of CMO Convo features Srdjan Popovic, CMO of Crossrope, who shares how his background as an engineer has given him a unique perspective on marketing, and what lessons other CMOs can take away.
Key talking points
- The applicability of engineering processes to marketing.
- The importance of "outsider" perspectives to evolve.
- The resources that CMOs and marketers can look to develop their skills.
About the guest
Srdjan's academic and professional background began in engineering due to family expectations. But his passion for sport and fitness led to him setting up his own blog and Youtube channel, the production and promotion of which led him to self-train his marketing skills.
He started getting views in the millions, which led him to connecting with the founder of Crossrope. The rest, as the they say is history.
Now as the CMO of Crossrope, Srdjan maintains the analytical mindset of an engineer and the bootstrapping, self-taught approach to marketing, team building, leadership and everything else related to the role of the CMO.
